Community Beautification Coordinator, Jan - July 2025
Built and launched a county-wide beautification program through state grant funding to promote inclusive civic engagement, public wellbeing and interdepartmental coordination. Authored and implemented a comprehensive 5-Year Program Plan incorporating public education, volunteer mobilization, monitoring and evaluation, and cross-sector partnership development. Strengthened coordination between county departments, elected officials, and community-based stakeholders to advance long-term goals. Designed and facilitated the adoption of the Beautiful Business Pledge, a county-wide policy promoting civic pride, environmental care, and stakeholder alignment.

Within DRC’s Operation team, partnered with the Ukrainian Red Cross (URCS) by providing MHPSS technical expertise and advisement to support URCS’s development/implementation in basic and focused MHPSS. Strengthened cooperation and coordination with URCS and Movement partners and stakeholders. Supported URCS to identify MHPSS needs and design relevant interventions for affected populations. Supported MHPSS project(s) for DRC CO, including facilitating assessments, project design, implementation, monitoring and reporting. Led DRC’s MHPSS team, working to strengthen national MHPSS coordinators through mentorship and providing technical guidance – including supportive supervision – considering future localization of program expertise. Developed Staff Wellbeing Guidance for Danish Red Cross Ukraine Country Office. Coordinated/collaborated with DRC’s MHPSS Matrix and MHPSS Hub to strengthen DRC Ukraine CO and to support URCS’s work in MHPSS.

Developed a comprehensive strategic framework for provision of burnout support, self-care and clinical supervision for Rwanda’s social workforce, including professionally trained staff, paraprofessionals as well as community volunteers. Researched Rwanda’s protection system, its workforce and existing support/supervisory system to inform strategic actions to promote mental wellbeing, self-care, prevention of burnout and clinical supervision. Conducted extensive remote and in-person assessment of current MHPSS stakeholders, focused on provide burnout/self-care support. Collaborated with communities, university/government/ministry staff, clinicians, and INGO’s through interviews, focused group discussions and other formats. Utilized data collected to support a context specific strategy and framework that connects with global approaches to MHPSS. Developed a comprehensive strategy, inception report and desk review.

Collaboratively developed MHPSS and protection programs. On-site technical guidance, assessments and mapping of specialized services, using global best practices. Led technical guidance to strengthen staff capacity to minimize harm, bolster protective factors, and provide basic MHPSS support. Overall MHPSS activity coordination – including administrative/logistical aspects of training and technical support with partners, liaising to identify needs, scheduling, planning, test scoring and tracking, monitoring program progress on outcomes/objectives and participant feedback and recommending adjustments to ensure program quality. Contributed in the establishment and roll out UNICEF’s contextualized Learning Series, including global MHPSS and child protection topics for US partners and organizations. Guided partner staff and volunteers to provide basic MHPSS, in accordance with quality standards related to a social ecological model recognizing the child at the center of the care model. Coached and led reflective supervision, developed and delivered technical guidance and interventions. Spearheaded establishment of organizational management, staff care and processes within selected organizations including creating EAP, code of conduct, feedback mechanisms, and additional supportive structures. Strengthened collaboration with UNICEF teams and partners (local/international), referral mechanisms, and advocacy for best practices and IASC MHPSS guidelines. Contributed to Child Protection (CP) emergency preparedness and the development and updating of country contingency plans with the CP program and zonal offices, and establishment of early warning mechanisms. Created and executed a cross-sectoral plan of action in preparation and response to MHPSS needs in emergencies. Spearheaded technical policy and program guidance related to emergencies and MHPSS for UNICEF as well as inter-agency through the MHPSS WG and CP AoR. Guided implementation of MHPSS emergency preparedness measures. Collaborated with sectoral technical specialists to assess the crisis and humanitarian situation in country with special regard to the survival, protection and wellbeing of children, adolescents and women.

Led the Mental Health and Counseling programs, in five centers, coordinating over 200 staff (national and refugee). Spearheaded the development of psychoeducation for new arrivals, individual, group and family therapy sessions. Led the alternative healing program throughout the camp that aims to ease somatic pains in refugee populations. Developed programming for mental health day-care centers in the camp focusing on special needs education, occupational physiotherapy, capacity strengthening and vocational training.
