My processes are cultivated by the tactile nature of creation. From the torch to the loom, my body of work comes secondary only to the processes in which they were created. Traditionally women fabricated textiles for women in domestic means, and men created jewelry to adorn the female body. The stark contrasts of histories of my chosen medium are reflected in my desire to pursue and combine the two. The jewelry I create adorns the body, but the design and process of creating each piece elevates the adornment into an item that reaches beyond the notion of mere decoration. The woven and textile pieces were created in a way that allows the viewer to interact and interpret them in a non-confrontational space. The installations are an exploration of how the installation and its environment can dialogue and interact to affect each other as well as the viewer. Building upon theories and research in a variety of formats, the very physical way the textiles are created become a therapeutic tool.
