The Confluence Centre: Supportive Services for International Humanitarian Aid

This collective was born out of an identified gap in different supportive services for humanitarian aide workers.  We were founded by international humanitarian aide workers with backgrounds and degrees in mental health and psychology.  In our education of mental health, psychology and counselling, we found strength and growth in the clinical supervision that we received.  Joining the world of humanitarian aide, we found that there was a gap in the same kind of support that we received in our previous backgrounds.  At the same time, there was a cry from many of our colleagues, and we saw how the lack of support led to burnout and people leaving the field.  We saw the bright lights and passion of our colleagues and friends disappear, and we knew that we needed to respond!

We developed reflective supervision with people from the MHPSS (mental health and psychosocial support) sector that we work in and with people who work in WASH, Peacebuilding, GBV, Protection (and many other) sectors in humanitarian aide.  We also developed supportive supervision for our colleagues working in; development, frontline, government contract and private sectors.  Check out our tab on the services we provide to learn more about how The Confluence Centre can support you and your organization!
